Group 1: Tim/Jesus/Angela (All Present)
·
Pedagogy/Collaboration
·
Nice image with the
five C’s
·
What is the way towards
collaboration?
·
This would be something
to discuss or even ask the class, how do we do this?
·
What exactly are you
referring to with reference to the article; I think it is important for you to
discuss this immediately. The first thing that you want to tell the class is
what you are talking about with reference to the article.
·
Some of the imagery
used is satire, and the use of technology and memory
·
The jeopardy students à
This would have great to discuss, according to what Haberman is saying but
ya’ll kind of just skipped over it, even the storm trooper reference. I think it kind of went over everyone’s head
·
Who is the 21st
Century learner?
Ø Is
it a question for the people in charge?
Ø I’m
not so sure???
·
Very clever use of
satire, it makes your presentation funny
·
What does Haberman say
with his rebuttal to the Pedagogy of Poverty, I think it’s important to
reference this in your presentation. Overall I think you guys did well but at
times I think you went over people’s head.
Some people don’t know about Star Wars but it was funny. One of the main
questions came at the end it I think it was worth more of a discussion. I want ya’ll to consider this for next
time. What kind of real world concerns
are there when discussing technology and pedagogy? Is it really helping us? I want you all to engage us with these types
of questions but incorporate the article, and what Haberman says about this in
your discussion. I think that you all
touched upon a lot of things that Haberman said but assumed that we all knew
what you were talking about. Take some
time to explain it to us and how you applied your understanding of the text to
a bigger meaning.
Group 2: Julieta/Zaragoza/Natalee (All
Present)
·
14 Acts of Urban
Teaching
·
The art of teaching
·
No connection between
students and teachers
Ø Kids
à
Problems at home, personal issues
Ø Adults
à
Outside issues, work, personal lives
·
Style à
Is that the connection between teachers and students
·
Really nice images used
·
An improvement in
education
·
50 percent of teachers
quit in their first years
·
Where are the
percentages coming from? Cite them probably on your presentation
·
None competitive
salaries, not sustainable à
Teacher’s quit
·
What does Haberman say
to contrast this pedagogical methodology? How does he counter or what is his
response?
·
While I value your
personal experience, I would have loved to see you connect what Haberman said
with a discussion. Haberman offers a
rebuttal towards the Pedagogy of Poverty, which is where your discussion really
needs to be headed.
For the most part you
were prepared, lacked a little engagement.
That’s why it’s always good to ask us questions, to see if we understand
what you are saying in the presentation. Towards the end of your presentation, you strayed away from the actual article. Don’t worry about
providing outside sources
I want you to provide a counter response
towards the pedagogy of poverty according to Haberman with a quick discussion
next time. You don’t need to make
another presentation but simply discuss it with us in a real way we can
understand. Engage the class, ask us
questions. This will make for a much better presentation. I think ya’ll provided a lot of good
information but it seemed incomplete without providing us a response to the
pedagogy of poverty according to Haberman.
Group 3: Eudith/Luis/Claudia (All
Present)
·
Socioeconomics and
Pedagogy
·
How does family
background affect Educational attainment
·
Where is all this
statistical information coming from
·
You only needed to use
the Haberman article, no outside sources were needed
·
It would have been good
to explain what socioeconomics is to the students
·
I got to be honest, I
was lost when you all were explaining the graph, need to explain it to us a
little bit better. I can’t even see the
letters on the graphs, I’m sure none of the other students were able to see it
either
·
P 290 Private School vs.
Private School
Ø Starting
with a good discussion here Claudia but explain to us what socioeconomics is
Ø This
was probably the best part of the presentation but we need to see better
graphs, also come back to what Haberman says
·
Diversity: Teachers
should know the diversity of their students
Ø Here
is another opportunity to talk about more about who we are as students.
Especially here in the valley, and an opportunity for ya’ll to incorporate your
real world experiences
·
Is Everyone Equal in
Your Classroom? That would have been a
good title for you presentation, then tie in what Haberman says, and your
interpretation of Socioeconomics. The video is a U.K
site, I’m not sure how much relevance it has to our socioeconomic conditions, need to
make sure that you are using statistical information relevant to our country.
I want you all to talk about
socioeconomics, how it affects you as a student in college here in the
valley. You don’t need to provide
outside sources, simply use what Haberman is saying. Dissect the article some more so that you can
find more information within the article related to your issue of
socioeconomics. Ya’ll did a good job
with referencing one item in your presentation, more participation needed with
Luis, Eudith, you started good but left
us wanting more. Lastly, show us one good graph that we can see explaining what
you are trying to tell us.
